Peoples Energy and Gas Workers Union Local 18007 Team Up with Crime Stoppers to Solve Peoples Gas Worker Shooting

 

CHICAGO – Peoples Energy, Gas Workers Union Local 18007 and the Chicago Police Department will join forces this Saturday, December 2nd to try to enlist the community’s help in solving a violent crime against a Peoples Gas employee. Juan Marrero was shot while on the job on October 21, 2005 in an attempted armed robbery.

 

Volunteers and police officers will hand out flyers in the neighborhood surrounding the crime scene and enlist the aid of the community in solving this horrific crime. A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot Marrero.

 

“We intend to send a clear message that when a utility worker is assaulted, we will use every available resource to apprehend that person and bring the offender to justice,” says Rodrigo Sierra, Vice President of Government and Community Relations with People Energy.

 

The group will begin canvassing the area at 113th & Aberdeen in Chicago on Saturday, December 2nd at 9:30 a.m. They expect to continue through the morning.
